Life story
2009

For over 15 years she dreamed of this day; a day that she will give birth to her own child. This, to many other women, was a common dream, but for her and as time ran out, she thought she would never live to see this dream come true. Her desire to have a baby was so strong that she even started buying baby's apparel in boxes years ago in anticipation of the day she would have a baby. As time went by and as she slowly crawled past forty, her hopes of realizing this dream slowly faded into fear. Finally, she became pregnant last April, but was advised to be on bed rest to sustain the pregnancy. She complied with this medical advice and stayed in bed for many months without working, just to see her first child.

On Saturday January 10, she was blessed with the child; a healthy baby girl that she delivered naturally and without complications at the Washington Adventist Hospital. The news of her delivery rocked through the Cameroon Community, as we all were happy for her blessing.

On Monday, Jan 12th, she was discharged home with the baby, where she looked forward to finally start living her dream. She cpmplained of severe shortness of breath for about 25minutes, called 911 and never had the opportunity to see another day.The shocking, tragic and painful news of her death hit us all like a rock & With a blink of an eye M. Fonta was no more;
Martha Fonta (42) was declared dead at the Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD early Tuesday morning January 13th.

Martha's last memory would be that of her beautiful 3 days old baby girl crying helplessly for the warmth and comfort of a dying mother, whose dream was separated by her death.

The shocking, tragic and painful death of Martha Fonta continues to peel the fabrics of our community as many wonder why a person full of life and brilliance could die so suddenly. Keep Martha  in your prayers.
